​Cabbage Roll Up Jhol Momos: A Low Carb Healthy Evening Snacks

Jhol Momos

Momos are often considered unhealthy. But if you are really fond of this dumpling, try this low carb recipe made with cabbage, soybeans and a blend of flavourful spices. It is drowned in a bowl of hot jhol prepared with soybeans, sesame seeds and spices.

​Ingredients for filling​

Cooking oil, 150 g chicken/paneer, 1 tbsp ginger and garlic, 2 tbsp spring onion, 1/3 cup cabbage, mushroom and carrot, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp chilli powder, 1 tsp pepper powder, 1 tsp garam masala, 1 tsp soy sauce, Salt, sugar and vinegar (to taste), 6-7 cabbage leaves

​Ingredients for jhol achar​

1 tbsp soybeans, 1/2 tbsp white sesame seeds, 1 tbsp peanuts, 1 tsp cooking oil, 1 tsp jeera seeds, 1 small onion, 2-3 green chilli, 3-4 dry red chilli, 1/3-inch piece of ginger 4-5 cloves of garlic, 1 tomato, salt, sugar and vinegar, water as required

​​Ingredients for garnish​

Spring onion (roughly diced)

​Step 1​

Sauté ingredients for filling until they are properly cooked.

Divide into steamed cabbage leaves, roll them up. Pan fry each on one side until browned.

Cook all ingredients for jhol achar and puree with water.
