New change - Eligibility for Final Year Bachelor's Students
Students pursuing a four-year Bachelor's degree program in their final semester can now apply for the UGC NET exam

New change - Subject Choice for PhD
Candidates with a four-year Bachelor's degree can appear for the UGC NET exam in a subject relevant to their desired PhD program, regardless of their Bachelor's discipline

Master's Degree is Mandatory
You must possess a Master's degree or an equivalent qualification from a UGC-recognized university to be eligible for UGC NET.

Final Year Students Can Apply
Students in the final year of their Master's program are eligible to apply, provided they complete their degree within two years of the exam date

Minimum Marks for General Category
Candidates from the general category need a minimum of 55% marks in their Master's degree examination

Age limit
There is no upper age limit for applying for Assistant Professor positions in UGC NETThe age limit for JRF is 30 years as of the 1st day of the month in which the exam is concluded.

Number of attempts
There is no limit on the number of attempts you can take the UGC NET exam

Subject Choice
You can appear for the UGC NET exam in a subject you studied at the Master's level or a subject relevant to your desired PhD program, even if it wasn't your Master's specialization (applicable to candidates with a four-year Bachelor's degree)
