Koppillil Radhakrishnan, known as K Radhakrishnan, was born on August 29, 1949, in Irinjalakuda, Kerala, India. Growing up in a modest household, Radhakrishnan showed an early interest in science and mathematics, which paved the way for his illustrious career in space research and administration.

K Radhakrishnan pursued his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from the Government Engineering College in Thrissur, Kerala. He then obtained a Master of Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB). Later, he earned a Doctorate in Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur), focusing on the management of technology.

Radhakrishnan began his career at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) in the 1970s. He held various pivotal roles, contributing significantly to India's space program. His early work included projects in satellite technology and launch vehicle missions, laying the foundation for his future leadership roles.

K Radhakrishnan became the Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in 2009. Under his leadership, ISRO accomplished several landmark missions, including the successful launch of Mars Orbiter Mission (Mangalyaan) in 2013. His tenure marked a period of significant growth and international recognition for India's space program.

During Radhakrishnan's tenure, ISRO launched numerous satellites, enhanced India's navigation systems, and advanced its space exploration capabilities. In 2024, K Radhakrishnan was appointed as the chairperson of the National Testing Agency (NTA) reform panel. This panel is tasked with reforming the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) and other national examinations to enhance their transparency, efficiency, and fairness.
